Please take note of the following newly introduced billing guidelines for consultations in the latest Medical Aid Gazette (These guidelines pertain to any account with service dates from 1 April 2012 onward.)

  1. The time for consultations for any new patients must be stipulated on the account in minutes for any consultation code billed. (Codes 0181, 0182 and 0183 )

  2. GOOD NEWS! The FINAL CONSULTATION currently billed under code 0186 will in future be payable within the four month post-operative care period. The newly published Gazette clearly indicates that Rule G, i.e. "no follow-ups payable in the four month post-operative care period", does not apply to the billing of code 0186.

Affected Compsol clients' accounts that have been submitted to us already will automatically be corrected from our side. Please ensure correct billing hereafter from our service provider's side.

  3. Codes 0145 (consultation away from rooms) and 0147 (emergency consultation away from rooms) which were erroneously omitted in the 2011 Medical Aid Gazette, are now again published in this years' Gazetted tariffs.

  4. The consultations fee for specialists this year have been increased, after the tariffs were published to be the same as the GP fees in last year's Gazette. Click HERE to see the two new fee structures.
